10/22 – Watch Captioned Radio or Braille Radio during the Presidential Debate and give feedback!
Want to listen to radio news, but can’t because you are deaf, deafblind, or hard of hearing???
National Public Radio (NPR) Labs is demonstrating their Captioned Radio and Braille Radio service for the Presidential debates.
NPR Labs would like to invite you to participate in the Presidential Debate broadcast on Monday night, Oct. 22, beginning at 8 p.m. Central Time, and then give them your feedback. It will involve viewing the captions – in real time as the debate happens – over the Internet and then completing a short survey which will help NPR Labs improve the service.
The link for the Captioned Radio feed will be: http://captions.npr.org
The link for refreshable Braille viewing will be: http://secure.nprlabs.org/ICATS
NPR Labs will provide the captioning service again for demonstration purposes and feedback on Election Night, Nov. 6. These demonstrations show how users who are unable to view TV captions, or who are not able to use a radio due to hearing loss, but are interested in NPR’s award winning journalism, can receive the content.
NPR Labs will soon announce the lineup and start dates for commencement of the initial programs for ongoing weekly captioned radio, starting in early 2013.

MNCDHH has collaborated with TPT Public Television to add ASL narration to their 1-hour special video about the Marriage Amendment issue.
In November, voters will decide if the State Constitution should define marriage as a union between a man and a woman, banning same-sex marriage. The “Marriage Amendment: I Do, I Don’t” special video from Almanac looks at both sides of the Marriage Amendment question and interviews a variety of people, including lawmakers, families, and faith leaders.
Captions for this video are already available online at http://bit.ly/TDfrYC.
The ASL for this video will be coming SOON in the next week! Help spread the word!
